Portable unit delivery and setup that actually works
Portable air-conditioners are a good answer where a fixed installation is not possible, or where you need cooling for a room that changes often. We supply the unit, deliver it to site and set it up with the right hose routing, window sealing and power check so the machine can do its work without wasting cool air. In the Lowveld, where heat and humidity stay high for long stretches, the venting detail matters a lot.
We handle setups for bedrooms, consulting rooms, small retail spaces, guard rooms, meeting rooms and short-term offices. If the room has a sliding window, awning window or a practical door exit for the hose, we will plan around that. If there is no obvious vent point we will still look at the best option on site and advise what is safe and compliant before any work starts.
- Delivery to Mbombela, White River, Hazyview, Klerksdorp, Potchefstroom and Rustenburg
- Portable unit placement for correct airflow and access to power
- Venting arrangement with hose, adaptor and window sealing where needed
- Basic operating check and user handover on site
What is included in a standard portable setup
A proper portable setup is more than plugging in the unit and switching it on. We make sure the hose is fitted correctly, the exhaust air is sent out of the room, and the unit stands level on a firm surface. If the hose is kinked or too long, the unit loses performance and draws more current, which can be a problem during load-shedding changeovers and when power returns with a surge.
The standard setup includes unpacking, positioning, fitting of supplied accessories, venting arrangement, basic leak and noise check, and guidance on use. Where the room arrangement allows, we also advise on how to reduce heat gain by closing gaps, managing curtains and keeping the air path open. On coastal or humid days, correct drainage and condensate handling becomes important too.
- Unpacking and safe positioning
- Hose and window adaptor fitment
- Power point and extension lead check
- Operational test in cooling mode
- Simple user instructions for daily use and cleaning
Our setup process from booking to first cool air
First we confirm the room size, the type of opening for venting and the power supply available. That helps us bring the right accessories and avoid delays on site. We then schedule a delivery window that suits the customer and the route, whether the job is in central Mbombela, on the White River side, or further out towards Klerksdorp and Rustenburg.
When we arrive, the team places the unit, routes the hose and checks that warm exhaust air is not back-feeding into the room. After that we test the unit under working conditions for a few minutes and confirm that the controls, timer and fan speeds are operating as they should. If the room needs a better venting point, we will explain the options clearly before proceeding.
Where a site has access restrictions, security procedures or municipal building rules that affect hose routing, we take that into account and keep the installation neat. We work practically, with as little disruption as possible.
Pricing that depends on unit size and site conditions
Portable setup pricing is based on the size of the unit, delivery distance, access on site and the venting method required. A simple room with an easy window exit will cost less than a shop with a long hose run or a tricky opening. We quote before the job so the customer knows what is included and what is not.
If the unit is supplied by us, the package can include delivery and setup at a trade price. If you already have a portable air-conditioner, we can still assist with setup and venting advice, provided the unit and accessories are suitable for the room. We do not pad the quote with extras you do not need. Just a straight price for the work agreed.
- Trade pricing on supplied portable units
- Setup-only pricing for customer-supplied units
- Cost affected by travel, access and venting hardware
- Clear quotation before work begins
Service intervals and day-to-day care
Portable units need regular attention if you want steady cooling and lower running costs. The filter should be checked every 2 to 4 weeks in dusty areas, and more often on busy sites or near open doors. In the Lowveld, where dust and humidity can both be part of the picture, filters block up faster than people expect.
We recommend a deeper clean and service at least once a year, or every six months if the unit runs often. That service normally includes filter cleaning, coil inspection, drain check and a review of the hose and sealing kit. If the unit starts to smell stale, makes extra noise or throws water back into the room, it is time to have it looked at. Small issues caught early are usually cheaper to sort out.
During winter storage, keep the unit dry, the hose straight and the filters clean. This helps when the next hot spell arrives and the machine needs to start up again.
Where we set up portable units and what suits each site
We are based in Mbombela and cover the Lowveld as well as North West, so we work in a mix of homes, offices, clinics, temporary work spaces and small shops. In White River and Hazyview, portable units are often used for rooms that need quick cooling without major building work. In Klerksdorp, Potchefstroom and Rustenburg, they are popular where a tenant needs a solution that can move with the business.
Not every room suits a portable air-conditioner, and we will say so upfront if another option is better. Room size, heat load, window type and power supply all matter. A unit that is too small will run flat out and still not keep up. A unit that is too big may cycle badly and waste power. We help match the unit to the space so the setup makes sense from day one.
