2018: The domain came first, then the business followed
The domain was first seen in 2018 as a parked page, with no trading operation behind it. That early footprint gave us a clean starting point later on when the business was formally carried forward as Aircon Warehouse, with a focus on trade supply rather than retail showrooms. The aim was plain enough, make it easier for contractors and property owners to get air-conditioners, parts and installation support without long delays.
From the outset, the business was set up around practical demand in Mbombela and the Lowveld, where heat, humidity and seasonal spikes put pressure on stock. Instead of trying to be everything to everyone, we started with wall splits, cassettes and portable units, the kinds of systems most often requested for homes, offices, shops and guest houses.
2019 and 2020: Building a supply base in Mbombela
As enquiries grew, the warehouse function became the centre of the business. Stock planning had to suit real local conditions, including summer demand, late afternoon load-shedding, and the need for fast replacements when older systems failed. We kept the range focused so that trade customers could get advice, pricing and availability in one place.
- Wall split systems for rooms, offices and small commercial spaces.
- Cassette units for ceiling fitments in larger interiors.
- Portable units for temporary cooling and quick deployment.
- Installation accessories, commissioning support and service items.
Those years also helped shape the way we work. A quotation had to be clear, delivery had to be realistic, and the after-sales side could not be an afterthought. That habit still defines the business today, and it kept stock levels moving even when supply timing was tight, some weeks were just busy.
2021: The team was formalised and responsibilities became clear
By 2021, the business was no longer just about stock on a shelf. It had become a structured operation with named responsibilities, which made it easier to handle larger orders and installation schedules across more than one town. Sipho Mandla Nkosi led the business as Managing Director, with Annelie van Wyk handling sales, Thabo Mokoena supervising installations, Lerato Molefe coordinating service, Johan Steyn managing the warehouse, and Nokuthula Dlamini looking after accounts and admin.
That structure mattered because air-conditioning work needs coordination. Site assessments must be booked, replacement units need the right capacities, and fitment dates need to line up with access, power availability and building rules. When the team was put in place, we could support trade customers more reliably and keep communication straightforward from first enquiry to sign-off.
- Site assessments for sizing and fitment planning.
- Replacement units for failed or outdated systems.
- System commissioning after installation.
- Fault finding and gas top-ups for working systems that needed attention.
2022 and 2023: Installation work spread through the Lowveld
Once the supply side was stable, installation work expanded across Mbombela, White River and Hazyview. The Lowveld brought its own demands, especially in hotter months when customers wanted systems installed before peak season arrived. We handled wall splits, cassettes and portable setups, while also making sure the commissioning was done properly so the unit could perform as expected from day one.
At this stage, the business also became better known by word of mouth. Contractors and property managers tend to remember who answers the phone, arrives when promised and keeps the paperwork tidy. That helped the company earn repeat work in homes, offices, lodges and small commercial sites where dependable cooling is not a luxury, it is part of daily operations.
We also adjusted to local building requirements and practical site conditions. Ceiling space, drainage, noise, power points and municipal rules all affect the final installation, so the planning had to be specific instead of guesswork. The team learned quickly that a careful survey saves time later on.
2024: North West coverage opened the next chapter
As the Mbombela base matured, the business extended support into Klerksdorp, Potchefstroom and Rustenburg. That move allowed us to serve a wider trade market while staying focused on the same core offer, warehouse stock, installation support and servicing for the units people actually use. North West conditions are different from the Lowveld, but the need is the same, good cooling, properly fitted, and easy to maintain.
Branch and service coverage now reflects how the business works in practice:
- Mbombela and White River for day-to-day supply and installations.
- Hazyview for hospitality and residential service calls.
- Klerksdorp for trade clients and replacement work.
- Potchefstroom for scheduled servicing and fitment support.
- Rustenburg for assessments, commissioning and fault finding.
This wider footprint came with more demand for quick turnaround and better stock control, so the warehouse role became even more important. When a customer needs a replacement unit or a portable system on short notice, the process has to be direct and dependable, not slow and uncertain.
Today: a trade supplier with practical local knowledge
Today Aircon Warehouse serves installers, businesses and property owners from Mbombela while covering the Lowveld and North West. The business now combines warehouse stock with installation, maintenance and servicing support, all handled by people who know the climate, the buildings and the pressure that comes with power interruptions. It is still a practical operation first, with no fuss and no wasted steps.
What has stayed constant from the early years is the focus on the customer’s actual job. If a shop needs a cassette unit fitment, if a house needs a wall split replacement, or if a manager needs scheduled servicing before the busy season, the team works around the site and the timing. That is how the business kept moving from its early domain history into a proper local trade operation.
