Office Cassette Package

An office cassette package is a ceiling mounted air-conditioning option for spaces with suspended ceilings and open floor layouts. Aircon Warehouse supplies and installs cassette units for Mbombela, the Lowveld, Klerksdorp and North West trade customers.

What the office cassette package includes

This package is built for offices that need even air distribution without taking up wall space. The indoor unit sits inside the ceiling void and the visible grille spreads cooled air in four directions, which helps in boardrooms, open-plan offices, reception areas and small retail floors. It is a practical option where you want a neat finish and there is a suspended ceiling already in place.

We supply cassette systems as a complete package, which can include the indoor cassette unit, matched outdoor condenser, installation materials, drainage pipe, copper pipe, electrical isolator and commissioning. If the building already has part of the infrastructure, we can advise what can be reused and what must be replaced. In older offices, we often find the previous unit was undersized, or the drain line was poorly routed and caused drip marks above the ceiling.

  • Ceiling mounted indoor unit for clean wall space
  • Four way air throw for wider coverage
  • Suitable for cooling single offices or larger shared areas
  • Can be supplied as a replacement or new fitment

Sizes and options for different office layouts

Cassette units are usually selected by room size, heat load and how the office is used through the day. A small manager's office may be fine with a compact unit, while a larger open-plan area with printers, computers and several people will need a bigger capacity. We size the unit based on ceiling height, sun load, number of occupants and whether doors stay open for most of the day.

Typical package sizes for office use include 12 000 BTU, 18 000 BTU, 24 000 BTU and 36 000 BTU. Larger commercial rooms may need more than one unit rather than pushing one system too hard. That is often the better choice in the Lowveld, where afternoon heat can climb fast and rooms facing west get hot by 2 pm. For high ceilings, glass frontage or full day occupancy, a site check is worth the effort.

  • 12 000 BTU to 18 000 BTU for smaller offices and meeting rooms
  • 24 000 BTU for medium open-plan areas
  • 36 000 BTU and above for larger workspaces or retail floors
  • Single or multiple units depending on room shape

Where a cassette unit suits best

These systems suit spaces that already have a ceiling grid, or where the owner wants a tidy office finish with air spread across the room. They work well in accounting firms, medical rooms, call centres, church offices, small shops and training rooms. In business parks around Mbombela, White River, Hazyview, Klerksdorp, Potchefstroom and Rustenburg, cassette units are popular because they do not block shelving or wall space.

They are also useful where the room layout changes from time to time. If staff move between workstations or furniture is rearranged, the cassette keeps the airflow overhead and out of the way. In dusty areas or places with open doors, the unit must still be cleaned regularly because dust build-up reduces air flow and puts strain on the fan.

  • Open-plan offices with suspended ceilings
  • Boardrooms and training rooms
  • Shops, salons and reception areas
  • Medical consulting rooms and admin offices

Installation, power supply and gas requirements

A cassette installation needs proper support in the ceiling, correct drain fall and enough access for servicing. The indoor unit must be mounted level so condensate drains away properly. If the drain line is poorly routed, water can back up and stain the ceiling tiles. We check the ceiling structure before fitment, because not every grid can carry the weight without added support.

Most office cassette packages need a dedicated electrical feed, isolator and correct breaker sizing. The exact power requirement depends on the unit capacity and the manufacturer data plate, but the installer must always match the cable size and protection to the load. Refrigerant gas piping must be the right length and diameter for the system, and the pipe run should be insulated properly to prevent sweating in humid conditions. In Mbombela and the Lowveld, that matters a lot because moisture builds quickly in the roof space.

  • Requires ceiling access and space above the grid
  • Needs a proper condensate drain line
  • Must be connected on the correct electrical supply
  • Gas piping and insulation must suit the unit capacity

Servicing, cleaning and everyday care

A cassette unit works better and lasts longer when the filters and coil are cleaned on schedule. In offices with daily foot traffic, printer dust and doors opening often, the filters can clog faster than people expect. If airflow drops or the unit starts smelling musty, it usually means the filters, drain tray or coil need attention. We offer scheduled servicing, deep cleaning and fault finding for systems that are already installed.

Regular servicing also helps avoid breakdowns during peak summer. A weak fan motor, low gas charge or blocked drain can turn into a bigger problem if left too long. It is better to service early than wait until the office is hot and staff are unhappy. In some municipal buildings, maintenance records are also requested as part of compliance and asset management.

  • Wash or replace filters regularly
  • Clean the indoor coil and drain tray
  • Check gas pressures and electrical connections
  • Inspect for water leaks, vibration and unusual noise

What to check before you place an order

Before ordering an office cassette package, it helps to confirm the ceiling type, room size, power point location and whether the building can take a suspended indoor unit. You should also know if this is a new installation or a replacement, because a changeover may need new pipework, brackets or electrical work. If the office is in a coastal or humid area, ask for the installation details upfront so the drain and insulation are done properly.

For trade buyers and end users, the key is to match the unit to the space, not just to the budget. A system that is too small will run all day and still not cool the room. One that is too large may short cycle and waste power. We can assist with site assessments in Mbombela, White River, Hazyview, Klerksdorp, Potchefstroom and Rustenburg, then advise the best package for the layout and budget.

  • Room measurements and ceiling height
  • Whether the ceiling is a grid or plaster finish
  • Power availability and breaker space
  • Number of people, computers and heat sources in the room

What clients say

Questions we get asked

Do I need a suspended ceiling for a cassette unit?

Yes, in most cases. A cassette is designed to sit inside a ceiling void with the grille visible below the tiles. If there is no grid ceiling, we can advise on the best alternative.

How do I know what size cassette to order?

Start with the room size, ceiling height, sun exposure and number of people working there. For larger or hotter rooms, we may recommend more than one unit rather than one oversized system.

Can you install and service cassette units in North West?

Yes. We cover Mbombela and the Lowveld, plus Klerksdorp, Potchefstroom, Rustenburg and nearby areas for installation, servicing and fault finding.
