Wall Mount Brackets

Wall mount brackets are used to carry the outdoor condenser on a strong external wall, keeping it clear of dust, standing water and foot traffic. Aircon Warehouse supplies trade-priced brackets in the Lowveld and North West, with fitting support for the right wall, weight and service access.

Heavy-duty support for outdoor condenser units

Wall mount brackets are steel supports fitted to an outside wall so the condenser sits above ground level instead of on a slab or roof sheet. They are common where the yard is tight, the ground is uneven, or there is a need to keep the unit clear of flooding, pests and splash-back from rain. In places like Mbombela, White River and Hazyview, mounting off the ground also helps with dust and summer storms.

These brackets are made for suitable external walls only. A proper installation checks the brickwork or concrete, the fixings, the load and the service clearance around the unit. If the wall is weak or hollow in the wrong place, the unit must be set on another mounting option, not forced onto a bad surface. That saves damage to the building and the air-conditioner, and the install lasts longer.

Sizes, finishes and bracket choices

We supply bracket options to suit small wall split outdoor units through to larger residential and light commercial condensers. The correct choice depends on the unit weight, footprint, mounting hole pattern and the service space needed for the pipes and isolator. You should not assume one bracket fits all condensers, because the base and the offset can vary a lot.

  • Standard wall mount brackets for compact split units
  • Heavier-duty brackets for larger condensers
  • Powder-coated steel options for general inland use
  • Corrosion-conscious options for coastal or high-humidity conditions
  • Fixing sets for brick and concrete walls, depending on the surface

In the North West, especially around Klerksdorp, Potchefstroom and Rustenburg, dust and heat can also affect the choice. A bracket with the right coating and enough stand-off from the wall makes cleaning and servicing easier, and helps with air flow around the condenser.

Where wall brackets work best

Wall brackets suit homes, offices, shops and small business sites where the outdoor unit must be kept off the floor. They are often used where paving is limited, where there are drainage issues, or where a ground stand would block passage. They also help when the owner wants the condenser away from rodents, garden tools and the normal knocks that happen in busy yards.

They are not the first choice for every site. If the wall faces harsh vibration, poor masonry or a very heavy unit, another mounting method may be safer. That is why we always look at the site first, whether it is in Mbombela town, a farmhouse outside White River, or a workshop in Klerksdorp. A short site assessment avoids costly rework and broken pipe runs.

  • Best for solid external brick or concrete walls
  • Useful where floor space is limited
  • Helps keep the condenser above dust, rainwater and washing water
  • Ideal where service access from ground level is needed

Installation, power and gas line checks

Bracket fitting is only one part of the job. The installer must confirm the wall strength, drill and anchor correctly, and level the bracket so the condenser sits square. Then the pipe run, cable route and drainage plan must be checked. If the unit is mounted too high or too close to a corner, access for cleaning and future repairs becomes awkward.

After the unit is mounted, the refrigerant pipework and electrical connection must be completed, then the system commissioned properly. That means pressure testing, vacuuming, checking for leaks and confirming the gas charge where required. A neat bracket install with poor pipework is still a bad install. In load-shedding areas, it is also worth confirming that the isolator, surge protection and backup arrangement are suitable for the site.

  • Confirm wall strength before drilling
  • Check pipe length, bends and fall before fixing height
  • Allow enough space for air flow and future servicing
  • Commission the system after installation, do not skip it

What to check before you order

Before ordering wall mount brackets, check the condenser model, the total unit weight, the base size and the fixing hole spacing. Also measure the wall area where it will sit, and make sure there is room for the pipes to exit without kinking. If the unit is replacing an old installation, compare the old mounting points carefully because not every new condenser lines up with the previous one.

It helps to know the wall type too, whether it is solid brick, block, concrete or a cladded surface. If the wall is old or cracked, the fixing method may need to change. You should also think about the local conditions. In the Lowveld the humidity is higher, while in the North West dust and strong sun are common. Both affect the long-term condition of the brackets and fasteners, so the right finish matters.

Servicing, corrosion care and long-term use

Wall brackets need very little attention, but they should still be checked during scheduled servicing. Look for rust, loose bolts, movement in the wall and signs that the unit has shifted after a storm or maintenance visit. If the bracket starts to corrode or the wall plugs loosen, the issue should be dealt with quickly before it becomes a safety risk.

Keep the area around the condenser clear of weeds, ladders and stored materials. Wash water, fertiliser spray and borehole salts can shorten the life of the coating. In Rustenburg and parts of Potchefstroom, airborne dirt can build up on the bracket and condenser, so an annual clean and inspection is worth doing. It is a simple part of aircon care but it saves trouble later on.

  • Check bolts and wall anchors during servicing
  • Remove rust and touch up damaged coating early
  • Keep enough space for deep cleaning of the condenser
  • Ask for a bracket check when the gas or electrical system is being inspected

What clients say

Questions we get asked

How do I know if my wall can take a condenser bracket?

The wall must be solid enough for the unit weight plus vibration. We check the wall type, condition and fixing points before recommending a bracket or another mounting option.

Can wall brackets be used for any air-conditioner outdoor unit?

No. The bracket must match the condenser size, weight and fixing points. Larger units may need heavier brackets or a different support method.

Do I need servicing after the bracket is fitted?

Yes. The bracket, bolts and wall points should be checked during scheduled servicing, especially after heavy rain, strong wind or any signs of movement.
